Trailer for Saw V... scarier than Philly area haunted houses?

Of course, the real scary thing is that a studio has decided to make a Saw V. The teaser line they are using is...You won't believe how it ends... Actually, we won't believe that it ends, SINCE THE FIRST FOUR DID NOT.

Saw V is in theaters Oct. 24.

Since it will stop raining at some point this weekend, Philly EDGE figures the fall-like weather might put you in the mood to seek out a local haunted attraction. Try finding one at FrightFile, our sister site.

VIDEO: Phillie Phanatic dancing on stage at the Keswick Theatre

One of our favorite things about Philadelphia (by far) has had a tough week.

First, dude got booed for dropping a foul ball at The Bank  AND THEN he was implicated in a potential terrorist attack involving spicy, processed meat and a hydraulic cannon that is presumably registered in his name.

VIDEO: Sarah Palin in a swimsuit

Figure she'll be dressed a lil' warmer at the Pub tonight.

(UPDATE: Damn YouTube. Video is down.- Ed.) Back up.

VIDEO: Tonight's Mary J. Blige concert in Camden is postponed

From the Live Nation release:

Due to unforeseen circumstances, tonight's Mary J Blige concert at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ has been postponed until Sunday, October 5th. Fans can hold onto their tickets, as all tickets for today's show will be honored for the rescheduled performance.

Since you can't see Mary J tonight, we'll give you the next best thing- including a mash-up with the King of Pop himself.

News to Reuse: Debate is on- Palin still in Philly, get me Coppenbarger!, and Big Brother in Bucks is not an Orwell reference

[   ]  The presidential debate between Republican Sen. John McCain and Democrat Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.), scheduled for tonight in Mississippi, is officially on. (phillyBurbs)

Drexel and Penn students to attend hoops game in jammies, hopefully lingerie too

In its never-ending quest to remain the flashpoint for all sports - often by creating its own events and debates and hoping that they’ll become part of the fabric of American fandom, ESPN intends to give fans a 24 hour of college basketball marathon on Nov. 18.

Political Update: Sarah Palin at a bar in Philadelphia this Friday and ‘Screaming’ Howard Dean and a Philly soft pretzel

[ ]   Republican vice-presidential pick Gov. Sarah Palin is in Philadelphia. According to a mish-mash of blog and MSM reports, she intends to watch Friday’s (scheduled) presidential debate at the Irish Pub (20th and Walnut sts.) (Fox 29, WillDo, FooBooz and Philebrity)

Your Thursday: Drink with your dog, Maberry is NOT a town in Bucks County and TV on the TV

News to Reuse: Pennsylvania’s new lottery game: Penispalooza

The Pennsylvania Lottery, which is sort-of a state-run engine of capitalist class containment marketed as the last, best hope for PA. working class folks to somehow afford dental coverage while it helps “programs that benefit older residents”   (though it effectively creates a closed-loop by attracting many elderly “players,” skimming profits and then returning the money to said programs that the elderly NOW really need - because they have less money after being conned into playing the lottery out of hope/despair for some financial security),

Suspicious packages (OF HOT DOGS) found outside Citizens Bank Park; Phils game still on

CBS 3 has the full story.

...The Philadelphia Bomb Squad has responded to outside Citizens Bank Park for reports of several suspicious packages, forcing a partial evacuation of the stadium.

The area being affected is Pattison Street between Darien and 11th Streets near the 1st base entrance.

According to officials, three packages were found wrapped in duct tape near a ticket office....

McCain suspends campaign, asks to delay debates, 'til financial crisis is addressed (UPDATE: Obama called him first.)

No. Really. He did. (phillyBurbs via AP)

…In a statement, McCain says he will stop campaigning after addressing former President Bill Clinton's Global Initiative session on Thursday and return to Washington to focus on the nation's financial problems.

McCain also said he wants President Bush to convene a leadership meeting in Washington. Both he and Obama would attend the session….
<lets it digest>

Okay. This is…

  1. …bullshit. No one person can solve this crisis. Not even if you put Alan Greenspan’s brain inside Chuck Norris’ head and gave him Warren Buffett’s money.

  1. …shrewd. By instigating this action from a position of apparent selflessness, McCain is seen as a leader; someone who is concerned about the status of the economy over his own personal goals and interests.

  1. …pragmatic. Think about the undecideds: this plays as well, if not better, than the Palin choice did with them.

  1. …a no-risk choice. Even if it's a sham- which it is- what does he have to lose? He is an underdog in the debates. And if the media calls him on it: “It’s the liberal media, again.”

VIDEO: A Philly Complaint Choir- why didn’t someone do this sooner?

First Person Arts, the Philly cultural and communicative org dedicated to facilitating personal story-telling is bringing the Complaint Choir, the Scandinavian-born gripe concerts-gone global, to Philadelphia.
The concept is fairly simple: a collective of people air their complaints, which are gathered and arranged and then paired with a musical score (in Philly’s case, one from Evan Solot). The finished product should be a little like this one in Chicago…
