'Tis the season for roadkill . According to CNN, the Keystone State leads the way in more than just crystal meth labs. Thx Philadelphia WillDo .
Just in case you missed it, comic Dane Cook announced two shows at the Sovereign Bank Arena (81 Hamilton Ave. at Rt. 129 in Trenton, NJ 1.888.SBA.TIXX) this week... and the frickin' shows are next week November 10 and 11.
Philly EDGE can't get to everything -which explains the nasty grout in our shower- but we do try. While this week's print edition featured several music event possibilities (Kanye West, Thomas Cunningham & The Locofocos, Todd Martin, Valencia and more) we didn't have a chance to mention at least two more fab shows coming to the Philly area this weekend.
Tonight, check out Guster with Philly/Brooklyn/Boston band Matt Pond PA at the House of Blues (801 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, NJ 609.236.BLUE). Tickets cost $32-$37.
This week's cover story about "Megillat Esther," a graphic novel version of the book of Esther produced by Philly-area artist JT Waldman, may have stoked your appetite for things graphic/comic.
For further reading check out "Black Hole" from Philadelphia-based artist Charles Burns. It's a depiction of Pacific Northwest teens who are besieged by a sexually transmitted disease which causes their bodies to morph.
You can read more about Burns (from Baltimore City Paper)» jstudent's blog | 2 comments | read more
In the event that the Philly EDGE cover story on the Book of Esther made religion seem like a cool experience... a Philadelphia casting company is holding a nationwide search for participants, both men and women, for a future Learning Channel documentary to be called "The Monastery."
Participants will agree to live in a monastery for 40 days. No religious background is necessary.
If you're interested go to www.heerycasting.com for details.
Philly EDGE Correspondent Tara Nurin wrote this week's cover story on Montgomery County artist JT Waldman, whose work "Megillat Esther" is a modern take on a book of the Old Testament. An excerpt follows.

Virgins bathe in oils and primp for a year before they have sex with the King, who then enslaves them as concubines the morning after. This same monarch throws a debauchery-soaked party that lasts six months. Characters cajole, manipulate and deceive to get what they want. Jews slaughter 75,000 people in one day in self-defense.

Freelance photog (and Friend of Philly EDGE) Brian Hineline clicked off great shots of both Chris Cornell and Tom Morello of Audioslave at the Tweeter Center in Camden last Friday (Oct. 28).
Philly EDGE made it out to Kenny's (Street Rd. Southampton)and Whiskey Tango (Bustleton Ave. NE Philly) Friday to see The Rockets and Octane respectively. Big crowds and beautiful people.
