Reelblack Presents, Philadelphia's longest-running screening series devoted to African-American film enters it's Fourth Season with a special 20th Anniversary screening of SHE'S GOTTA HAVE IT. Spike Lee's debut feature film was filmed in just 12 days at a cost of under $100,000. It went on to gross over $7 million dollars and ushered in the current Black Film Renaissance. Co-star John Canada Terrell, who resides in Philadelphia and portrayed Greer Childs in the film, will participate in a post film discussion with Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Annette John-Hall. About the film: Spike Lee stars as Mars Blackmon, one of three suitors vying for the attention of beautiful Nola Darling (Tracy Camilla Johns), who is taking her time making up her mind about her sometimes belligerent lovers. Unapologetically sexy, She's Gotta Have It is sadly still unavailable on DVD in the US. Reelblack will screen it from an original 35mm print. For more information, please visit www.reelblack.com. Two Artists Two Views:
Vivian Bergenfeld and Evelyn Liebowitz
June 9 - July 14, 2006
Sunday, June 25, 2-4pm: Opening Reception
An exhibition of the work of two remarkable artists, both of whom were long time members of Cheltenham Art Center. Bergenfeld and Liebowitz both had a passionate love of their craft, and their work expressed their own adventures into their personal visions of the world. Bergenfeld’s intellectual paintings and prints were drafted with precision, while Liebowitz’s linocuts gravitated toward simplified black and white shapes of what she saw in the world around her.

Cheltenham Art Center 64th Annual Juried Awards Painting Exhibit Opening Reception- Sunday, April 30th from 2-4pm.
Cheltenham Art Center galleries are graced by the vivid colors of paintings from various artists of the Tri-State area. Over a 150 artists submitted paintings for the 64th Annual Juried Awards Painting Exhibit that runs from April 30 thru May 26, 2006 with an opening reception on April 30, 2006.
Gallery owners Rodger LaPelle and his wife Christine McGinnis, both accomplished artists, juried this year’s show as a team. Their own work hangs along side the works that they selected for the exhibition, giving artists an opportunity to see the vision that played into the selection of work. LaPelle and McGinnis have entered their work in this exhibition for many years, periodically being accepted and selected as prize winners. It is with pleasure that Rodger and Christine juried this exhibition.
