Philly Sports Backwash: Phils Throwback Edition

Turning back the clock with the Fightin’ Phils:

[ ]  First, check out this phine maroon Phils hoodie, which was in our latest Cooperstown catalog.

A nice nod to the Phils of the 1970s and ‘80s (that is not barbeque sauce or wine). Catalog had it at $81; it’s on sale at Distant Replay for $67.20.

(Of course it’s not as cool as Daulerio’s shirt, but it will hold up better in October.-Ed.)

[ ]  Second, how about noted entrepreneur former Phils CF Lenny Dykstra’s oft-forgotten singing prowess? Check out this Fox video from the mid-90s.

[ ]   Third, a nod to the Shibe Park/Connie Mack days as former Phil/Hall of
Famer Robin Roberts threw out the first pitch at today’s Phils-Red Sox game.

Three things you need to know about Robin Roberts.

1-     He won 20 games every year from 1950-1955. (Wiki)

2-     He once had 28 consecutive complete games. (Larry Shenk’s Insider blog.)

3-     On the game broadcast today, he was calling Harry Kalas “Larry.” (WillDo)

(As great as he is, Philly EDGE just doesn't see Cole Hamels getting that done this year.- Ed.)
