Bar News: Manayunk may get a “RiverWalk” and Guv signs state smoking ban into law in Ambler

[ ]   The Inky’s Michael Klein reported yesterday on Food and Drinq that Manayunk is pursuing a “riverwalk” of sorts along the towpath that is to the rear of the buildings on the west side of Main Street in the city neighborhood east of the Schuylkill River.
City Council has been sent a bill which proposes starting the development with an elevated deck behind Bourbon Blue (2 Rector St.). If approved, up to 25 more businesses could follow suit.
See the plans here. (Food and Drinq)

Klein and the business proposal both mention San Antonio, the Texas city whose Riverwalk is the best known of its kind in the U.S., as a positive example of this type of development.

Three things:

1-      The San Antonio Riverwalk, much like all of Texas, is significantly overrated to the point that Philly EDGE thinks if we had to fight Mexico for it again, we’re not so sure we would.

2-      It just kinda seems like an open sewer, ya know?

3-      San Antonio does get to host Final Fours. Does this mean Manayunk will host a Final Four? If so, the line at the Brewery is going to be a bitch.
