[ ]   Publishing-rights company BMI will salute Daryl Hall & John Oates as BMI Icons at its 56th annual Pop Awards, Tuesday, May 20 in Los Angeles. The event will “honor the songwriters and publishers of the past year’s most-performed pop songs in the United States,” a press release states.

 

     In addition, a musical tribute to Hall & Oates, who will join the Bee Gees, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Paul Simon, Merle Haggard, Brian Wilson, Willie Nelson, James Brown, Ray Davies, Carlos Santana and Dolly Parton as Icons, is planned. 

 

     Daryl Hall, whose July 12 date at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside is soon-to-go-on-sale, has been hosting a monthly Web cast showcase “Live From Daryl's House” with newer artists such as Gym Class Heroes (who harmonize with “You Make My Dreams Come True”) and KT Tunstall, who does Bonnie Raitt’s “Something To Talk About” with Daryl below ...(listen up for Tunstall playing xylophone on a killer version of “Out of Touch” whose notes you can hear at the beginning of the clip and hear in full here, scroll at bottom of player).
