Music news: Peasant makes it to New York, a Bucks band wins a title and Beanie does not go to Wilkes-Barre

 

 

[ ]   Spin.com posted this snippet of Peasant, a.k.a. Damien DeRose, Friday. DeRose, a Bucks-based artist whom Philly EDGE first profiled in 2006, was on a holiday-time trip to New York, where he serenaded commuters with tracks from his forthcoming LP, On the Ground, due out Feb. 26. Philly EDGE promises more on him later this month.

[ ]     Dept. of Sorry, the Inbox was too full and we missed these: John Legend’s latest CD/DVD, Live From Philadelphia, available only at Target stores, was released late last month.

     Levee Drivers were named winners of the Cream: Best of Philly Rising competition hosted by World Cafe Live. The title was awarded at the end of a year-long competition in which more than 300 local artists competed.
