My first kiss (if my mom is reading this) was last year. But for everyone else, I have to confess, it was when I was 13. My friends told me this guy in my class liked me, and I thought he was really cute, so I was flattered, and excited - but scared to death!
I didn't know how to kiss; I never had before. It was the ’80s, so I was dressing to impress; hoping to catch his eye. I had on my special neon, oversized T-shirt belted over stretch pants, my hair was teased and heavily hairspray-ed, and I was listening to Madonna's "Lucky Star" on my Walkman.
I was heading to the class that we shared, and somehow it ended up we were both running late and wouldn't you know, the power went off, and we were both stuck in the dark hallway.
He grabbed my hand, said, "Kerri-Lee, I really like you," and kissed me very quickly. It felt like my heart was pounding out of my chest, but I wasn't too shaken to remember how great his lips felt!

My first kiss was in the summer between seventh and eighth grades with a girl by the name of Dawn Pfeifer. She was a year older than me and definitely more experienced than I.
It was a hot summer night in August and we were hanging out in Dawn's backyard just up the block from my house in Glen Mills, PA.
She jammed her tongue into my mouth, and I had NO idea what was going on. Now-a-days I'm not so shocked when that happens, and I think it's fucking awesome!
And, if Dawn Pfeifer is reading this, it's matt@wmmr.com .

My first kiss was something out of a teen movie. I was in seventh-grade at a St. Jude’s dance one Friday night (they let kids from other schools come to their dances, and I went to Lenape Middle School in Doylestown at the time).
My friends and I always went and saw this boy who I thought was super cute, and he went to a different school, too. His name was Joel Moffitt (he may even still live around here, I have no idea), and he actually asked me to slow dance with him at the end of the night to Silk's "Freak Me!" Then he kissed me at the end of the song!
I remember having butterflies in my stomach - and all my friends were asking me about it. I remember it as the best kiss ever! But what did I have it to compare to…

My first kiss was random and awkward – and embarrassing.
Every year my family vacationed in Sea Isle City, NJ, for two weeks with close family friends. My best friend, Bridget, and I were inseparable and looked forward to a couple weeks at the beach together, since her family had moved to Harrisburg after living across the street from me.
Bridget was a bit older than I, and I was a little devil willing to do anything for a laugh. One evening, our parents decided to take a night to themselves and go out to a nice dinner; of course Bridget and I were ecstatic at the idea of having the entire night to do whatever we pleased. The parents departed and the kids were left in the care of my older brother. Immediately we headed out to the balcony to yell at random people who dared to bike or walk in front of our rental home…yes, we were odd, and found this to be thrilling.
Well, a cute boy on his bike rode by several times, each time getting cat-called, and not seeming bothered by it in the least. After about his fourth pass, I yelled:
“HEY! Come up here,” never thinking he would.
He pulled his bike into our driveway and headed upstairs. His name was Kevin, and he was a couple years older than I - a high school boy who went to Archbishop Wood, and was far more attractive and less cootie-stricken than the boys I went to school with. He joined us on the balcony, and I was impressed at his ability to fit right into our bizarre world.
As the night came to a close, I followed him downstairs. On the driveway, he pulled me close, and kissed me. I was stunned, because I was not expecting this at all. As we were in the midst of this kiss - my first kiss ever - the carload of parents pulled right into the driveway…and I got caught in the act.
Kevin quickly scurried away, and I was left red-faced and embarrassed to get interrogated by my mom. To this day, the parents still tease me about it – telling me that I was like a deer caught in the headlights. I will never live it down.

I'm sure my first kiss took place like many other youngsters’. My friends and I used to have pizza parties every Friday night at one of our friend's houses. This was back when we could have fun without the influence of alcohol. You know, just some pizza, soda, chips and pretzels, a good movie and some great friends.
Now when the night started to wind down and everyone was feeling a little wild, someone suggested a game of Spin the Bottle. Now I was quite smitten with a girl named Allison, had been for years, and I knew that this was the night it was going to happen. So, as the rounds of the game went on I watched my closest friends make complete fools of themselves by trying to act "cool" while secretly shitting their pants because they were so nervous at the thought of kissing a girl for the first time.
As the bottle was passed along, neither Allison nor I had kissed anyone yet, and then it happened. The bottle was now in my possession. I looked at Allison and gave her a weak smile, then placed my trembling hand on the Coca-Cola bottle and gave it the best spin I had in me.
I watched as it went around and around, Aimee, Brian, Melissa, Dave, Jen, Mike, Allison. Aimee, Brian, Melissa, Dave, Jen, Mike, Allison.
And then it stopped.
Sitting to my right with that Coca-Cola bottle stopped directly in front of her was beautiful Allison. She smiled nervously at me, I smiled back, and then we both went in for it. It was quick; it was awkward, and worst of all, we had six of our friends staring at us making "ooohhhs" and "aaahhhs.” It was a magical evening that I will remember for the rest of my life.

I had my first kiss in the summer between fourth and fifth grades with a girl named Lisa. It was just before her birthday; her mom had a party for her to which a bunch of her classmates - I among them - were invited.
Lisa was a total flirt and spent hours on the phone talking to – as I would later find out –every guy in the class. If I remember correctly, there was even a ranking system, which I had somehow floated to the top of for the week of the party. She definitely gave me clues that something might happen at the party (hand-holding at most, I thought).
We were playing this elaborate game of “tag,” and we were on the same team, hiding in the woods behind her house to prevent being found. At some point, while we were crouching down behind a tree, our lips touched. WOW!
I had this buzz for about two days just thinking about the kiss. (Ed. Note: I later found out that Lisa kissed two other boys that day, natch. Fwiw- that may have started a trend in girls I kiss.)
Every time I see her in my hometown, including this past Mother’s Day weekend, I think: ‘That’s the first girl I ever kissed.’
