Dining Out for Life

 Philly

Gotta love April.

’Tis the season of incredibly bizarre holidays. April 1st may be April Fools day, but its also One Cent Day. And the 2nd is International Tatting day. If you know what tatting is… feel free to inform the rest of us. April fourth is Tell-a-Lie Day, no really, it is. If that doesn’t suit your fancy, it’s also Walk-Around-Things-Day. The 6th is Ex-spouses Day, so start saving now for that one. Remember eight tracks? Dust those babies off for Eight Track Tape Day on the 11th. The 13th is Blame-Someone-Else Day, and if you ask me, I’ve been celebrating that one a little early. The 17th is Blah-Blah-Blah Day, where you apparently get all those things done you’ve been avoiding all year. The 25th is World Penguin Day, which is a great excuse to rent Happy Feet again. Followed by my favorite, Hug-an-Australian Day on the 26th.

And if you’re from Philly, you know that the 26th is also Dining Out for Life.

For those of you who are out of the loop, Dining out for Life is an annual fundraiser that raises money for the fight against AIDS. For 17 years, participating restaurants across the Delaware Valley have donated 1/3 of their proceeds for that day to local AIDS service organizations. Whether you want Thai, Mexican, or just want to grab a slice pizza; there will be over 200 restaurants to choose from. It has to be one of the easiest ways to raise funds for AIDS.

Thursday, April 26th, make a night of it. Here is the website for participating restaurants and more information: www.diningoutforlife.com. And while you’re at it, take a moment to honor that April is both National Welding and Pecan Month.
