Bar News: Ladies Nights at bars officially outlawed, Blue Comet now operating as BYOB and why no washers courts at bars?

[ ]   Just in case you ever wondered… Promotions at bars which provide for a sort of gender discrimination – i.e. Ladies Nights – are prohibited. (Times Leader)

From the story:

…Crackdowns by state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement officers have led to fewer citations through the years but the practice will likely never be eliminated.…
According to Sgt. Gary S. Severns, with the Wilkes-Barre District Office of the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement, six citations have been issued to establishments in the Wilkes-Barre district since February 2007. He said the discrimination violation is not among the top-10 most frequently issued citations the bureau issues annually in the state, but it’s one that continues to pop up even though liquor license owners “should be aware it’s not allowed.”…

Wow. It’s not in the top 10, yet it needs to be stomped out. Tax dollars at work right there.

[ ]   The Blue Comet Bar and Grill in Glenside is currently operating as a BYOB, while it waits for a full liquor license. ….At least it’s still open.

(And fwiw- it was still open later than Union Jack’s in North Hills on Friday. Folks, you have a great bar; please don’t make it seem like you are closing at 11 p.m. Ever. On any day ending in “-day.”)

[ ]   So, it occurs to us as we are thinking about Monday Night Foosball at Walsh’s Tavern in Warminster tonight at 8 p.m., why aren’t there any bars (we know of) with indoor or outdoor washers courts?

Anyone? And its SO BIG at Phils games.
