News to Reuse: Muppets NOT invading Oxford Valley Mall, Bucks Penn State streaker gets off (!) and a new bar in Manayunk (shock)

[  ]  Dept. of Big News Monday: The Oxford Valley Mall in Middletown is not closing. (Courier Times)

From the story:

…. Oxford Valley Mall isn’t closing1. The property hasn’t been purchased by Anheuser-Busch. The mall’s not going to be leveled to make way for a bigger Sesame Place2 or a new theme park. So all those rumors you’ve heard about the mall’s demise are just that — rumors. False ones.
“There is no truth to the rumor,” said Paula Pritchard, director of communications and resident marketing for Sesame Place. “It seems to be local legend3. The rumors start circulating every year.” Pritchard said she doesn’t know how the falsehood got started. Patricia Gillett, the mall’s marketing manager, said that as far as she can tell, it began more than five years ago after someone made an off-hand comment on a radio show4. …

Editor’s Notes

  1. Not permanently closing. As far as we know, the OVM closes every night.

  1. Then again, a brew pub run by Oscar the Grouch, a gay-friendly dance club called “Bert and Ernie’s” and Snuffleupagus as a tattoo artist wouldn’t be the worst ideas for mall stores.

  1. Philly EDGE thinks with as difficult as it is for an out-of-towner to figure out how the hell to get to the actual damn mall, it would not surprise us if people think it is just easier to imagine it being closed.

  1. The comments harshly point the rumor-mongering finger at Q-102 on-air jock Lisa Paige.
Not to worry: all assurances are that OVM will remain committed to giving Lower-Central Bucks residents mediocre shopping choices, chain restaurants and large spaces for vapid, one-hit wonder pop acts to play free shows.

[  ]  The Jamison woman caught streaking at this spring’s Mifflin Streak at Penn State University has had lewdness charges against her dismissed. (AP via Centre Daily Times)

From the story:

… A Centre County judge Friday dismissed charges against Mifflin Streaker Elizabeth Burke, finding no evidence she “affronted or alarmed” anyone during the annual naked jaunt, nor that she knew her behavior was likely to offend anyone….

Dude: Did the judge just imply she looks fine naked?

[  ]  New bar update: Cactus Restaurant and Bar (4243 Main St., Manayunk) is slated to open next Wednesday, Aug. 27. Early plus: the kitchen is set to stay open ‘til 2 a.m.

The signage is in place for the Miller’s Ale House bar and restaurant in Langhorne (2250 East Lincoln Highway), which will be known as the Langhorne Ale House and located at the site of the former Smokey Bones outside the Oxford Valley Mall. Another will open at the intersection of Roosevelt Blvd and Grant Ave. in NE Philly. You know their Zingers.
