Philly Sports Backwash: Soul and SaberCats in Arena Bowl on Sunday

If the Philadelphia Soul can win the Arena League title by defeating the San Jose SaberCats in New Orleans Sunday at 3 p.m. (6ABC), there will be a parade and a concert and an impromptu implosion of the Spectrum.
Point is, this is some serious shit. Let us break it down for you. First, what you really want to know: How do the Soulmates compare to the SaberKittens? (Click to enlarge... the photo, you perv!)
Right….Both consist of better ass than you'll see all weekend.
Now for the head-to-head:
Soul
- Often mentioned as a potential barter acquisition of The Devil, but actually owned by Bon Jovi….hmmmn
- Can be easily crushed by being made to watch American Idol, The View or Larry King.
- Huge following in India, where the team is referred to as the Atman.
- Possessed by the Killers, who are apparently not inclined to serve in the military.
- A resemblance to John Belushi, even a dead John Belushi, would be better than being mistaken for a living Dan Aykroyd.
SaberCats
- Totally pwned Fred Flintstone every fucking episode; Pebbles Flintstone does not resemble her “dad.” Sayin.’
- First called the Smilodon Californicus, but decided that sounded like an STD.
- Much like its team/league/sport, couldn’t get anyone to pay attention to this either.
- Parents hate that they really prey on how much kids love dinosaurs.
- The name is so popular with kids that a succeeding soccer franchise nickname search went in another direction, selecting a traumatic, deadly natural disaster. (MLS has not weighed in on Philly Legionnaires as nickname for new Philly club starting in 2010; reportedly against New Orleans Standing Water as additional franchise.)
