[ ] phillyBurbs.com is holding
a pretty cool Joy Division giveaway. For those that do not know – or who only know the name because
of this – Joy Division was a British rock band who certainly helped move rock music forward past the days of punk and into electronica in the early 1980s.
The band reformed as New Order after lead singer Ian Curtis committed suicide in 1980, which, of course, in the twisted world of music criticism and pop culture, established Joy Division’s legacy. (Tough way to gain cred.- Ed.)
Anyway…the grand prize winner gets the newly released
Joy Division DVD as well as a best-of CD set and three of the rock act’s records on vinyl. Enter
here.

A new blog site,
For Those Who Tried To Rock hopes to get your submissions of cover bands, garage bands and original bands that have… uh, disbanded. Among their earliest entries is The Explosions, who played Yes, ELP and Genesis songs together in 1980 in and around Cherry Hill….And wore the hell out of a pair of tube socks.
