From the game story:
The season-opening struggles continue for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs who dropped a 6-2 decision in a Sunday afternoon tilt with the Richmond Braves from Coca-Cola Park. …Richmond 1B Barbaro Canizares continued his assault on IronPigs pitching with his first-inning two-run homer that gave the Braves the early 2-0 advantage. Canizares, one of three Cuban-born players on the Richmond roster, has homered in each of the last two games vs. the IronPigs and is hitting .400 (4-for-10) with three runs scored and four RBIs in the series.
Atlanta wins! Atlanta wins!...Or, is that loses?
From the Astros site:
Under his watch, the Phillies drafted future All-Stars such as Chase Utley, left-hander Randy Wolf, and left-hander Cole Hamels. Additionally, the last two National League MVP's were drafted and developed while Ed was the Phillies GM, 2006 NL Most Valuable Player and 2005 NL Rookie of the Year Ryan Howard and 2007 MVP and shortstop Jimmy Rollins. The club also drafted outfielder Pat Burrell (1998) and right-handed pitcher Brett Myers (1999) during Ed's tenure. …
Other Major Leaguers drafted or developed while Ed was the Phillies general manager include players such as Michael Bourn, Ryan Madson, Carlos Ruiz, Johnny Estrada, Jason Michaels, Marlon Byrd, and Marlon Anderson. Additionally, the Phillies selected outfielder Shane Victorino in the Rule 5 Draft at the 2004 Winter Meetings.
Philly EDGE nods in agreement and has NEVER understood why so many Phillies fans seemed to hate on Wade so much. …Did he need to be held accountable for the team not getting to the playoffs? Sure… but the antipathy toward the former GM made/makes some Phils fans seem, dare we say, bitter.
