In our Greater Philadelphia metropolis of over 5 million people, covering a full 10 county region, you could say that of these five uncommonly gifted female singer/songwriters with an aggregate average age of just over 25, each is decidedly one in a million.

Dallin Applebaum, Irene Molloy, Krista Parrish, Laura Shay and Sharon Little, indie artists all, while clearly only a fraction of the current cavalcade of new women in song, do represent the Delaware Valley quite nicely.

New sites help direct drinkers to bars

 

To plan for his Erin Express bar tour, Brent Beddis, a 24-year-old from Philadelphia, printed out a map from MapQuest and marked, in pen, the location of each bar with a circled "A" – "P." The circled letters corresponded to a key at the bottom of the page, where he wrote down the name of each bar and the exact street number. By the end of the night, the page was wet with beer and the ink was smeared.

"(This is the) only day it's socially acceptable to be an alcoholic," says Mike Barker, 24, of Philadelphia while on the 2007 Northeast Erin Express last Saturday (March 10).

Indeed. The bar-to-bar bus shuttles that occur in and around Philadelphia each March can be a convenient solution to a beer-lover’s problem: getting around safely.
